South Shelby FFA attended Washington Leadership Conference in June 2018. 9 students traveled to Washington D.C. for this National FFA Conference. Students spent the week with peers from across the nation developing leadership skills, discussing agricultural issues, touring D.C., and meeting with policy leaders.
Including registration (hotel, meals, & shirts) and flights, the trip costs about $1275 per student. To offset costs, students prepare for this trip by fundraising for two years before attending the conference. South Shelby attends the conference every other year. Therefore, freshman & sophomores will begin fundraising efforts in the fall of 2018 to attend the conference in the summer of 2020.
Our two biggest fundraisers, are chocolate covered strawberries for Valentines Day and pies for Memorial Day. Throughout the year, we will do small fundraisers such as concession stands or personal requests for event cleanup.
