State FFA Degree
To receive the State FFA Degree, students must have earned their Chapter FFA Degree. Students must have been an active member of the FFA for two years and completed two years of agricultural instruction. Therefore, only junior, seniors, and freshman in college can apply for a state degree. A student's SAE program must have earned and productively invested at least $1,000 or worked at least 300 hours outside of classroom instruction. Additionally, students must demonstrate leadership ability (see attached handbook for more specifics) and show outstanding leadership (minimum score of 150 points in the leadership section). Finally, students must serve at least 25 hours of community service.

American FFA Degree
This award is the highest degree any active member of the FFA can receive. Less than 1 percent of all FFA members receive this degree. It is awarded to members who have shown excellent achievements in their SAE and maintained the highest level of involvement within their chapter.
After being out of high school for one year, members return home at the end of April to complete this application. Applications are submitted May 1, and the official list of American degree recipients is sent in August so that FFA members can make arrangements to attend the National FFA Convention to receive their degree in October.
To Apply Members Must Have: - Four years of records and an outstanding SAE project. - A high level of involvement in the FFA. - Been out of high school for one year. - Completed 50 hours of community service.
